What is the core difference?

Lease-to-own is generally a longer commitment designed to end in ownership or provide an option to buy or transfer the vehicle after a defined term. Depending on the provider, the economics can include a final payment, eligibility conditions, multi-year commitments, usage rules or early-termination charges.

Monthly car rental is primarily about temporary use, not ownership. It can suit a visitor, a project employee, a resident waiting for a new car, or anyone who needs transport for several weeks or months and expects to return the vehicle when the rental ends.
